SentinelSprings will be represented at World Water Week 2026 in August through a dedicated project presentation by Marcin Kiedrzyński (University of Łódź, Poland) at the official Water4All on-site stand and associated online sessions.
Recognised globally as one of the most influential international forums on water governance, sustainability, climate resilience, and science-policy dialogue, World Water Week brings together researchers, UN agencies, policy-makers, NGOs, funding bodies, environmental organisations, and practitioners working at the forefront of global water challenges.
The SentinelSprings contribution will be featured under the theme:
“Science-based innovations for safeguarding water in forest and landscape restoration”
This participation is highly significant for the consortium because it places springs and groundwater-dependent ecosystems within broader international discussions on ecosystem restoration, climate adaptation, biodiversity protection, and sustainable water governance.
The presentation will showcase how SentinelSprings is developing innovative, science-based approaches to monitor and protect springs as critical indicators of environmental change. By integrating hydrogeology, ecology, climate analysis, remote sensing, real-time monitoring, and citizen science, the project is helping establish springs as strategic observatories of groundwater sustainability and ecosystem resilience across Europe.
Special emphasis will be placed on the project’s novel transnational living lab network spanning diverse European climatic and hydrogeological settings — from Mediterranean aquifers and karst systems to lowland spring ecosystems and island catchments. The presentation will also highlight the consortium’s work on harmonised monitoring protocols, FAIR open-data platforms, ecosystem-service assessment, and policy-oriented governance tools designed to support long-term restoration and conservation strategies. By participating in World Water Week through the Water4All framework, SentinelSprings contributes directly to strengthening the science-policy interface and advancing collaborative European solutions for water security under global change.
