On 26 September 2026, the Italian partner of the SentinelSprings project participated in the 20th edition of the European Researchers’ Night in Turin with an activity entitled “The Water We Cannot See: A Journey into the Depths of the Earth.”
The event provided an opportunity to bring the themes and work of SentinelSprings closer to the general public through an engaging and interactive approach.
Through a series of activities, participants were invited to discover the hidden world of groundwater and learn more about the importance of lowland springs in the Piedmont region. The initiative encouraged visitors to reflect on the vital role these water resources play in supporting ecosystems and communities, despite often remaining largely unseen beneath our feet.
The activity also highlighted the importance of monitoring and protecting groundwater-dependent ecosystems, a key focus of the SentinelSprings project.
By participating in initiatives such as the European Researchers’ Night, SentinelSprings continues to promote greater public awareness and understanding of groundwater resources and the need to safeguard these important ecosystems.
